Pros

Detroit office has free parking, office sponsored intermingling is cool, the community service team does great work

Cons

Still out of date with a lot of technology but moving in the right direction. There are a lot of "cliques". Benefits are awful now unless you're making enough to cover medical expenses out of pocket. Raises are pretty much non-existent. If you get in a small department it's hard to get promotions or move up and out.

* Hours are decent; * Company isn't cheap about travel and other business expenses; * New York office is pretty nice

Cons

* Editorial staff is overseen by ad sales (publisher is from ad sales), which regularly tells reporters to be careful what they write about bi ad sales or conference clients; * Company doesn't seem to understand that the folks in ad sales would have nothing to sell if not for the reporters, yet pays ad sales a lot and pays financial reporters a barely livable salary; * The editor I worked for seemed to favor Jewish employees - She would be all chummy with Jewish reporters, and be totally cold to others; * No company culture or work comraderie whatsoever; * Editorial and publishing processes are very old-fashioned - company doesn't seem to understand that no one is reading print anymore;

Some restructuring has been occurring and they've greatly improved the technology within the company.

Cons

The business units are ran like separate companies and it isn't efficient.
