Pros

I learned how to stand up for myself, and for my coworkers. I learned how to scrub walls and smile about it. I also gained insight on how it feels to be treated and thought of as garbage. I learned that I deserve better from a job, and that I deserve to be treated like a human being.

Cons

Where do I start, the supervisor always preached about how each shift was one big team working together. However we were watched and haunted by our bosses during discharges, and if they saw anyone helping us to finish the room we were written up. How can there be a team, if we aren't allowed to even stand by one another on the floors? While working there five of my shift bosses were fired. Once I got comfortable enough to open my mouth about an issue, they would be gone from the company. All of my bosses belittled me, made me feel like what I had to say was minuscule, and a joke. I was literally laughed at by one of my bosses before. They treated the housekeeping staff like ignorant trash. And yet we were the hardest working individuals in that entire hospital. Also, the managers ALWAYS pushed for shorter discharge times, and for unrealistic goals. "I need you to complete a discharge in 25 minutes, also dust the entire floor, walls, and ceiling." How can someone work that fast, and be as proficient as you're asking them to be? I felt like a slave. They don't train you enough, and then throw you into areas in which you are supposed to clean without having previous knowledge due to their poor training set up. The gloves. The management team decided that they needed to cut the budget, so they provided gloves that were so thin, that they were break open almost immediately. This made me feel not only unsafe, but scared for my own health. How can you give your housekeeping staff gloves that allow viruses to roam through them in a matter of seconds? That's right, they cared more about money then they did about their housekeepers health and wellness. The amount of bribes to tattle tale on coworkers was insane. There was no trust between bosses and coworkers due to this high school mentality. They overwork housekeepers, I can't stress how hard I saw some of my coworkers work. Literally drenched in their own sweat, being forced to clean over 20 discharges in a shift. Oh and you're basically screamed at by the lead, " go to this room now, I don't care if you haven't taken your lunch yet, you will do this or I will talk to our boss." ILLEGAL... So illegal.
