Pros

The people I work with and the friends I have made are the only reason I have stayed as long as I have. My location is generally slow I can also get away with a lot of goofing off.

Cons

Pay is not competitive at all, and so far they have not done anything to improve the situation. Unless you are at a location that is unionized then there is almost no chance you’ll be getting paid fairly. After I had been working there for almost two years and had been trained in multiple departments, I learned that new cashiers were making more than me. They discourage people from discussing wages and many people are underpaid because of it. Many managers are toxic, racist, sexist, rude bullies, and when that is brought to the attention of upper management nothing is done. Corporate gives their locations little to no help in a lot ways and due to that dealing with customer needs requires you to teach yourself a lot of things on the fly. Cub’s biggest problem is being money hungry and underpaying employees, and it causes understaffing, unmotivated workers, and high turnover rates which makes the jobs of people who stick around even harder.

Pros

Cub offers leniency on attendance standards and offers flexible scheduling for those that have seniority. There is a forgiving dress-code that allows for workers to wear comfortable clothing. Phone usage is not allowed, but the rule is not enforced. There seems to be a very low standard/expectation for workers to perform at their peak. The company offers employee discounts, paid time off, and small wage increases.

Cons

First and foremost, rules are constantly changing. Policies are enforced one week, and abandoned the next. There is a lack of consistency of enforcing rules because management is constantly changing. There has been a switch of over 6 managers (Store Directors/ASD's) in the past 3 years. The workplace is constantly understaffed. There is minimal effort to find individuals to cover shifts when people call in. Water is not allowed at the work-station. There is poor air conditioning during the summer months and poor heating during the winter. With that, there is minimal room for career growth within the company. The overall cleanliness of the store is poor.
