Failure to invest in products or people

Pros

Immediate co-workers and I guess great if you're a shareholder.

Cons

Organisation tends to be run by management that don't understand the industry in which the company operates. Constant drive for increased sales but continued failure to invest in product development or indeed staff development. Silo culture where business units compete rather than collaborate. Penny pinching/Indian giving outlook of senior management can lead to reduction in morale. Whole thing is run on a shoestring with consistent micromanagement, overloading workers and lack of support. The projects get bid on and won but infrastructure to support it isn't put in place until the project is already late. Very poor company ethics and low morals.

Going downhill

Pros

Pay is decent (kind of)

Cons

Senior management and executives are a total joke. They're running the company into the ground and trying to make "changes" (read: layoffs of everyone not management) to fix it that aren't working. Focusing on lean manufacturing when they still can't even get products to work properly. Solutions have been proposed by professionals, but management refuses to institute them because they only see in $ signs. Government customers get preference in everything, even though they don't give us any projects anymore. I wonder why we don't get any more project? Might have to do with the crippling failures the company has had in regards to allowing engineers do what they're paid for.
