Pros

None. They discriminate against the disabled.

Cons

I accepted an offer with this company and was genuinely excited to begin my new role. Before my start date, my severe medical condition worsened, and my pulmonologist submitted documentation requesting a fully remote accommodation due to the significant health risks associated with unnecessary in-person exposure. Instead of engaging in what I felt was a meaningful discussion about possible accommodations, my start date was postponed and I was asked to provide additional medical documentation after my physician had already explained my functional limitations and recommended accommodation. At no point during the process was I offered an alternative accommodation or presented with other options to discuss. The company maintained that attendance at an in-person vendor training in Minnesota was an essential requirement of the position and indicated that the training was not available virtually. As someone who successfully worked remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, I found it difficult to understand why a technology company was unwilling or unable to explore whether any reasonable alternative could be considered. As someone who served as a union representative for the United Federation of Teachers for many years, I participated in numerous workplace accommodation matters. I understand that employers are not required to grant every requested accommodation, but I also believe employees deserve a timely, respectful, and genuine interactive process. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I was also disappointed that several significant communications regarding my employment and accommodation were sent after normal business hours, prolonging an already stressful situation. Ultimately, I chose to withdraw my acceptance because I lost confidence in the way my accommodation request was being handled. I cannot speak to the experiences of others, but I believe prospective employees—especially those who may one day require a workplace accommodation—should know about my experience so they can make their own informed decisions. This review reflects my personal experience with the company's accommodation process.

Pros

Overall an understanding workplace and positive environment. Managers and co-workers are always available to you and everyone is very friendly.

Cons

The training was not the best I have had. They need to implement a training program of the overall company before placing anyone in their role.

Pros

Custom is big on training AND they pay for it AND you get gift cards as rewards for passing certifications. This is a close knit family environment. The people care about one another which makes the workday pleasant. The building and grounds are meticulously kept. Over the years I have seen processes and procedures put in place that have helped the company grow. They are fair. Do your work, contribute to the overall effort and you are rewarded very well. Custom has a vision/mission statement that appears throughout the building. There are clear cut goals for each department that are communicated by managers/directors so there are no surprises. Ask questions, get the answers. The owner has an open door policy. He is very welcoming and loves to hear your ideas. He cares about his employees and lends a hand when you need it the most. We have annual picnics, bi-yearly awards dinner, holiday brunches, take your child to work day, Halloween parties for employees children, and they celebrate Administrative Professionals Day with a very nice lunch. There are employees who have been here for 30+ years. That alone speaks volumes! It's a great place to work and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to grow and expand my skills and knowledge!

Cons

Health insurance is expensive as it is all over the country.

Disappointed

Pros

The staff is very nice.

Cons

Management needs training to properly lead staff and troubleshoot the typical issues that arise. Focus is solely on the customer/client. Little support is given to staff. Although opportunities for growth were described in the interview, it isn't true. Completely disappointed. This experience is now a lesson on what NOT to do from a leadership perspective.

Pros

The employees that work at Custom are all around great people. The culture is focused on training and development of the managers. The company values each and every employee. There's everything from employee recognition programs, tuition reimbursement to constant drawings to win gift cards, etc. The company has events throughout the year that employees and their families are invited to. The salaries are fair. Great bonus structure. The company is poised for incredible growth this year and I'm excited to be a part of it. The headquarters are located on Long Island. They should be named Long Island’s best employer! The company employs staff all over the Northeast, from Maine to Maryland. There's even an onsite gym and extra-large kitchen. #bestplacetowork #workatcustom

Cons

Benefits are pricey but, that could just be the ever rising costs of healthcare. Free coffee only for executives or guests. :(

Pros

Custom is a great environment to work in. Management remains in contact with their engineers who provide on-site support. Custom also provides training to engineers who would like to advance in their career. Also, the other staff members are very approachable and provide a friendly atmosphere. My experience at Custom has been very pleasing and I thank them for the opportunity I was given.

Cons

Custom could have more Company Picnics. Reason being, my kids enjoyed them so much they always wanted more. :-)
