Pros

You work with some of the best in the business for a company which is more interested in saving lives and changing the world then making a ton of money. You work on game-changing projects (these are the people who not only invented the Segway, but the wearable insulin pump, the iBot stair-climbing wheelchair, and the FIRST Robotics Competition)

Cons

As a pure R&D company, you generally can't tell anybody what you're working on until something ships. While you get paid respectably here, most can make a little more money elsewhere. Consider the chance to change the world working on the cutting edge of technology part of your compensation.

Pros

I’ve enjoyed working at DEKA so far. The work is interesting and the people are great. What I love the most is the diversity of projects. It’s seldom you have the opportunity to work on so many ground breaking technologies. Great exposure for a green engineer who’s egar to learn.

Cons

Given it’s a flat organization it can be hard to adjust if you come from a hierarchy. Entry level salary is also a bit lower then industry average.

Pros

Deka develops innovative products starting from just an idea to a final product that is used in industry. Their products aim to incorporate engineering ingenuity towards solving real-world problems. The people you work with are mostly very intelligent and highly competent and motivated. If you are a competent technical expert in software or engineering this is a great place to work. Management attempts to help new graduates transition to areas of interest.

Cons

New graduates essentially need to self-train and put in lots of extra time in order to advance to different technical challenges. The pay for all levels is well below average for comparable expertise. Certain managers have immense egos and can drive projects in definitively incorrect directions for months on end, leaving engineers to waste time providing superfluous evidence that the direction is not helpful.
