Good first job, but new hires are getting paid more than existing employees
Pros
They are extremely flexible with scheduling and you get to learn a lot about the products. It could be a con to some, but there is only ever one person in golf, so there is little supervision and you have to manage yourself and find tasks to do when you're not busy with customers.
Cons
The biggest con is that there is no designated cleaning staff, so the workers have to take out the garbage, clean the bathrooms, dust, mop, and do other jobs around the store. If you are working the closing shift, you often get scheduled an hour after the store closes to clean up your department and help with other departments, but it is becoming more and more common that we are having to stay half an hour to an hour past the ends of our shifts because of being short staffed and not recovering the store quickly enough. In the past when we had to stay late, we were asked if we could and then thanked for it, but now it is expected and you feel out of place for asking to leave on time. The employees that work the morning shift don't have to deal with the uncertainty of when they will leave.
