Pros

-flexible/ accomodating to college students schedules -opportunities to work for manufacturers/ dealers in area of expertise (if you look for them) -generally very friendly co-workers -recognition is given where it is due -valuable "real life" experience -retail work in sporting goods offers a surprising amount of learning experiences

Cons

-seems to be a large disconnect between the upper levels of the company and the store levels - 3% commission is recieved only on warranties sold and only if warranties total is greater/equal to $350 or so (this is a monthly endeavor, if you dont reach the goal commission is forfeit) - location in a college town means high turnover which often leads to miscommunication/constantly bringing someone new up to speed. -getting a full time position is nearly impossible

Pros

Not goin to be laid off because the HR department doesnt exist.

Cons

This company doesn't even understand how the stores are run from an operational and customer service standpoint. Tasked to drive service and cut payroll weekly!! How can you serve customers when managers ring registers because the company wont pay for cashiers. There is a huge disconnect between what actually can be acomplished and what is demanded from the corporate office. There is no way that this company is going to sustain growth when other companies are actually customer focused and not 90% operationally focused and 10% customer focused. I often walk into other big box retailers and see three times more associates in there stores to help where as in my store I have 3-4 in the whole store how can you honsetly think you are serving the customer whis this type of staffing. The problems that this company faces are right in front of its nose but it is blind to the fact that it needs to deal with them by actually dedicating resources to it!!!
