Pros

The atmosphere at Dick's is great. The job is sales so there is some pressure to perform, but it is not an unreasonable amount of pressure. In my opinion this simply makes the job even more rewarding when you accomplish the goals that are set. Management does a great job working from the philosophy that there is life outside of Dick's Sporting Goods.

Cons

Communication seems to not be a priority at Dick's. Recently, the store that I work in has gotten better, but there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Pros

the discounts are pretty good, especially when we need to get something off the floor like a ping pong table. The hours are good during holiday season.

Cons

no guarantee for hours outside of holiday season. A full time employee may have to drop from 40 hours in december to 32 hours a week in January.

Pros

Sad as it is to say, but the only sense of fulfillment a part time employee of Dick's receives comes that first time he or she makes a purchase with his or her employee discount.

Cons

Dick's Sporting Goods embodies every poor quality one can imagine to describe a bad employer. Your schedule is erratic, and your hours are constantly cut. They are notorious for removing lunch breaks from your paychecks, regardless of whether or not you took them. They disrespect employees, while simultaneously expecting these employees to run an entire department and handle customers alone. PAY IS TERRIBLE... I started at $8/hr with promises of future raises, and was content with that. 2.5 years into my tenure I was only making $8.24. Managerial requests for my (and all other employees') raises were denied every time. Dick's is the worst place I have ever worked.
