Pros
DIS is a fairly relaxed work environment with a friendly atmosphere. You tend to have to wear many hats, so rarely do you get pigeonholed into performing one function. It can be pretty rewarding developing a system that you understand/have worked on top to bottom.
Cons
Some software development practices / technologies are a bit behind the times, though they seem to be trying to get up to date as much as possible.For example: implementing Agile development practices.
