      Pros

      Great pay for a student. Overtime pay during wide spread power outages. When working on "storm" duty, all three meals are paid for along with snacks.

      Cons

      It can be hard to stand out among a crowd of interns. Location is in Detroit, which can be hard to commute during sports games

      Pros

      - Dedicated to staying viable in the energy industry - Working with good people who take pride in their work - Benefits by far not the most impressive in the U.S. but not at all bad - Opportunity to work cross-functionally depending on where you work in the company - Engineering progression system...to an extent (see Cons for details)

      Cons

      - Leadership has a tendency to be short-sighted (fairly often) - Underlying "good old boy" culture still exists (not everywhere but enough where it is noticeable) - My work group in particular has just "restructured" and eliminated the Principal Professional (level 4) engineer position (just in time when I'm the only engineer eligible to even apply) - [Continuation of my last point] Concerning that there are literally <10 African-American level 4 engineers in the entire company of 10,000+ according to the corporate directory...yes I went there - Currently planning how to deal with the anticipated "mass retirement wave" in the next few year (see my first 2 points why this is a problem) -Leadership (in my experience) does not listen. Either "they have the solution" and want it done their way or they come around to outside ideas only if Senior Leadership above them agrees.
