Pros

I was a DTE employee for more than 10 years. Jerry Anderson really cares about his work force and is trying to turn the culture around into the 21st century. The co workers are great, whether their a contractor, field worker or engineer, their all pleasant, polite and willing to help out.

Cons

Theirs no check and balance on the supervisors or managers. Basically, what ever they say, goes. They can easily ruin a persons career at the drop of a hat without basically any over sight. Human Resource claims to be a neutral party, but in the end, their not. Basically, make sure your supervisor or manager doesn't feel threatened by you, and no matter what, whether its good for the company or not, remember to always agree with your supervisor or manager.

Pros

DTE Energy is an established company that will always be around, as there will always be the need for gas and electricity.

Cons

There's not a lot of autonomy, as leaders are trained to be robotic in how they correspond with their teams in that all leaders must abide by a set forth script.

Pros

DTE uses "overpaid consultants" to figure out what makes a company a good place to work, but they actually listen to the recommendations developed. When I was employed there for two years, we had mandatory meetings to discuss improvements in useful areas of employee engagement (with *actual* support from management). We cared about each-other, and were never afraid to ask questions or sound stupid. As an engineer, that always bothers me, but DTE made me feel comfortable with it.

Cons

These "cons" are very petty, I really can't think of much... My department was old-fashioned, they didn't allow telecommuting at all. They only had one kind of coffee for free. Escalation of actual, legitimate problems took longer than I wanted (but always eventually happened) - it was on the order of months, not days (that's what it's like at a utility company though).
