Pros

They like feeding their employees.

Cons

They don't treat their employees (nurses) and patients right. They work their employees to death and hardly give them a raise. They treat their patients like a conveyor belt and are more concern about productivity than patient care. No 401k, they are so cheap. Their dialysis machines are all old and broken. They call each other team mate but do not know what it means. Nurse turn over rate is very HIGH! Over all this company is money hungry. Don't be fooled by their mission, vision because they don't practice it.

Pros

* Full-time benefits. Their benefits are great and come with perks. * Training available through their own customized online courses as well as certification courses provided sometimes out-of-state depending on your job function.

Cons

* Management staff (especially in the area where I worked at: Dream Team, Region 1, Wild West) did not grasp the concept of being able to empathize with their employees' needs, issues/complaints, etc. They handled everything from a more business perspective, swaying more on what helps the business grow instead of balancing it out to the point where it also helps to foster positive relationships amongst their staff. A lot of FA's with the exception of one or two had no clue how to get their staff morale up. Conflict resolutions were biased in the favor of making the FA appear better than their staff. Shady business practices was rampant. It's like the big-wigs just sat behind a desk and held meeting all day and didn't or selectively-listened to complaints/issues of their team. DaVita has an extremely high turnover rate. A lot of employees leave and join other competing companies because DaVita is SO big, it can actually pay their employees LESS - in every job function. They DON'T compensate you more when they assign you more work - and by "more work" I'm describing additional tasks on a consistent basis to the point that if AND when you don't finish, you get questioned. And EVEN if you explain to your boss how and why you couldn't get the job done on time, THEY DON'T BELIEVE and instead RELISH in their own management positions and simply reply back with a, "When WILL it get done?" when they should've been asking you "What help do you need?" They cram so much work down your throat and you don't feel the appreciation from you teammates.

Pros

DaVita has a good leader in knowing finance and concepts. It will face its biggest challenges now that Obama Care came through. I believe it will make it through.

Cons

Senior management spews village concepts, presents some village concepts, however depending on which division you work for, the lower level managers may not be on the same page. It does not trickle down and senior management does not appear to care. Lot of double talk from lower Management( constantly spinning the truth does not make it true), lots of do not care what demands are put on teammates,(RN's can work for up to 20 straight hours in acute without a concern from the divisional leaders!) unacceptable expectations put on teams because of incorrect hiring. (no work/life balance) Really appeared to be work life balance only worked for those who did not really care about their team or care given. Rarely is there a philosophy of thanking teammates, it is usually just what was not done. Really beats up the team for morale. Abusive leaders are mostly not dealt with, the major picture are the numbers. Does their division get the numbers. Does not matter if you are killing the people getting those numbers, and they are quitting right and left. The turnover is unbelievable and I can not understand why there is not more investigation on the reason for turnover. The cost for training must be through the roof... what a loss of money when they lose so many good people. They do not like people who question things, even to understand, or that are not of the cookie cutter mold they want. It is an assembly line mentality. Much better environment in hospitals with people who get change and growth. If your opinion differs from what is wanted, don,t offer it up. Not appreciated. Honesty and Integrity are two of the core values, but management does not follow that. Much of this company is not what you know but who you know. You will find that people who know someone will be protected much past someone they do not like. Subjectivity appears to be lower managements strong suit and the HR department follows suit.
