Pros

Overall Datadog the company is AMAZING!! If you want to be remote or an engineer or people ops or legal then Yes go for it! I would recommend this is a great hyper growth company. The Execs are fabulous and transparent when it comes to the status/health of the company and always available if you need. So definitely consider joining but that's only if you're not interviewing as an Executive Assistant ( EA). I have been there over 3 years since 2018 and all was amazing until new EA lead came in August 2021 and morale went downhill and five of us (EA) left within 4 months. All the other departments are great to work for. Below were my exit interview notes that was written and shared with my manger, HR and my team. Issues that are resolvable. The EA bandwidth / workload - too many execs. WFH rule is too rigid with post covid landscape. With multiple EAs WFH 2-3 days a week is a reasonable request that provides more than enough coverage in the office.

Cons

Why Did I leave? Constant harassment and Hostile work environment created by current Manager’s behavior. Micromanaging became a huge issue amongst all teh EAs. Trust & morale and team environment has diminished dramatically since new Head EA came onboard August 2021.

Pros

None that I can think of.

Cons

Incompetent managers who only know how to micromanage their employees and who have zero experience in the area they are managing. A total game of favoritism here where the people who work hard don't get any recognition. HR's involvement to increase retention and job satisfaction is nonexistent.

Pros

Good colleagues, good benefits, good product, great sales training, okay RSUs.

Cons

Micromanagement of KPIs from top to bottom of the sales org. If they could have you work 100+ hours/week, they would. The stress level at Datadog couldn't be higher as managers are constantly looking for updates on anything and everything they can track. Tons of busy work that eats up hours that are not necessary to doing your job well. All management seems to care about is PG, PG, PG (pipeline generation). You'll feel more like a BDR than you will like an AE. Also, BDRs do not contribute a lot to your prospecting either so it's all on you. Datadog prospective accounts are so over worked that many of them have also blocked Datadog's email alias making it increasingly difficult to get a hold of anyone. Even though deal cycles are extremely long, the business is still managed on a weekly and monthly basis which only adds to the stress levels across the sales org. While many of the managers are former reps, it's as though they've completely forgotten how much time and effort it takes to close a deal there. Pay is below market average. Datadog knows this and doesn't seem to care as they have gotten that feedback a number of times from reps who have left.

Thank you for sharing your candid feedback, and we're sorry that your experience at Datadog was anything but positive. We continue to grow rapidly around the world, and operate in a high growth environment because of the speed at which we're scaling globally. As we grow, we're actively launching manager trainings across the company to help better arm our leaders with the tools to grow successful teams and individuals, and we believe these trainings will help to teach great leadership practices moving forward. Feedback like this helps us understand both what we're doing well and where we still have room to improve, so thank you again!
