Good perks, bad management

Pros

Snacks, nice office, good view of NYC, nice people, fun events, lots of parties, quality t-shirts, cute logo. Great place to party, not so great for work.

Cons

Inexperienced managers make work miserable. Seriously. As teams grow they pick managers by figuring out who has been here the longest. Managers don’t listen or manage. Managers are mostly skilled at kissing up or masking problems. Lots of grumbling under the surface now. Seems like a crisis is brewing but nobody notices because of insane growth and fun team outings. Several new people have said to me that they thought their jobs would be different based on the interview but now they’re confused and worried.

Pros

I read some of the previous reviews and Datadog does seem to have it's areas that need improvement but let's be real, what company doesn't? These reviewers are measuring Datadog to some fictional ideal standard of an impossible company that does not exist anywhere and complaining that their needs are not met. Like come on, if you have your cake, you don't get to complain that you can't eat it too. Chances are, you're a millennial still young in your career, thinking you're a hot shot and barking that any company would be lucky to have you but the minute you don't get your way, instead of taking challenging professional experiences and turning them into grit and learning opportunities, you go online and write a slanderous review as if that anonymous "control" will boost your ego knowing that you "stuck it to them." Let's see how many reviews you leave before you learn that your job is more than your paycheck - it's about learning to develop a company, changing culture for the better and believing in your product. - Generous employee benefits (catered lunch, fully stocked kitchen, unlimited PTO, health benefits) - Established enough as a startup to provide resources towards new areas of company growth - Managers don't micromanage, trust you to do your job and give feedback and coaching if you ask - Generally all employees I've come across are chill enough that I'd hang with them after 5p - Steller city view and open office layout

Cons

- Echoing another review, no nap pods but cold brew on tap soo... - Office culture does vary significantly from one location to another as Sales dominated Boston will be louder and amped while Engineering dominated NY will be quieter and chill (not really a con, just a fact) - Team culture is heavily dependent on your director. Mine is great but I do understand other teams' dynamic might be more challenging - Boston office is freezing most of the time but probably won't be complaining when its 100 degrees outside in the summer

Pros

Datadog has fantastic work perks like paying for 75% of your gym membership, cell phone reimbursement, 3 free catered lunches a week, and a good snack selection.

Cons

CS Leadership offers no guidance or coaching on how to perform the job effectively and efficiently. They bring no value to their employees and do not allow their employees to reach their fullest potential. I requested numerous times for coaching and feedback and I was not provided any feedback or constructive criticism from them. They also are very political and like to play the favorites game. If you are not a favorite then you will not be allowed to take "unlimited time off". There are no KPI's for the role so they can create fake KPI's that never existed to reprimand you. In addition, CS leadership is scatter brained, disorganized, and has poor time management abilities. If you want to grow and expand your skill set is as a Customer Success Manager, then Datadog is not the right fit.
