Pros

- Strong engineering culture. The management layer are all engineers. The cofounders are both technical and get it. The product managers all have some technical experience, and PMs typically have more than one team under their umbrella, which results in a lot of technical freedom and influence. - Strong product development culture. Thinking big is encouraged, and roadblocks to product development are discovered and eliminated. Spending time to make the product work well is valued. - Engineering ownership. We don't have a QA team. You are responsible for developing the feature, monitoring it, supporting it. You own it. Some people don't like this and can't handle the ownership, but if you like responsibility, this company is for you. - Strong company, product, and financials.

Cons

Honestly, it's really hard to think of cons. I'll be here for a few years at least.

Pros

Datadog changed my life, and I wanted to share some of the reasons why I think it's the top place to work in Boston. 1. There's advancement opportunities everywhere - They will give you a shot to interview for Comm. AE if you are a top tier SDR for around a year, who hasn't had AE experience, like I did - advancement is 100% legitimate at Datadog, they constantly promote SDRs into AEs, and I've seen multiple AEs become commercial managers in my time here. If you perform, they will notice, and they will coach you into earning a promotion. 2. Welcome to the Winning Team - Our product is incredible, we are elite in our vertical across our products, customers realize value quickly, the model for implementation and pricing are very customer friendly. Meaning you don't have to deal with being a niche vertical or not being the top dog in the industry. 3. You will become great at what you do - Datadog means business when it comes to training. We have a fantastic sales enablement group, continuous trainings from them and your sales manager. I have learned more in a year here about sales than my previous 5 years combined. You can come here knowing you will come out better than you were before. 4. The Benefits & pay are very very good - Like incredibly generous, and the comms are amazing - life changing for me at least. Got myself out of debt, built out my emergency savings, and upgraded my lifestyle in a little over a year thanks to Datadog and their generous comms. 5. Leadership is great - The managers are top tier closers, 6/8 were promoted internally I believe. They know what it's like to be in your shoes, and will coach you to success. Senior sales leadership is very concerned with making sure you understand how your contributions impact the company, and shouting out everyone whose working hard and crushing it. 6. Top tier sales engineering organization - It's a technical product for sure, but it's made easier by a world class sales engineering group. They are an absolute joy to work with, and accelerate deal velocity tremendously.

Cons

It's a tough job. It's tough in the sense that you need to work hard every single day to generate pipeline while closing business, and that requires consistency, grit & constant self reflection. You won't be able to coast your way to commissions without picking up the phone. Not everyone can handle the grind. However, if you're willing to do the work and embrace the grind at the start, you will rewarded 10X over.

Pros

Excellent product with an emphasis on innovation. The culture is very collaborative, and help is only a Slack message away. Being a disruptor is difficult, but having a company driving a successful culture is hard to find. Comp and benefits are outstanding. Its very rare to jump into a company during a hyper growth phase, so timing is everything.

Cons

Normal growing pains. If you cant stand the heat then you don't belong in the kitchen. Expectations are high, but thats to be expected when you are taking over a saturated market.
