      Good company, great culture, but questionable decision making higher up

      Pros

      For the most part Dataminr is a great place to work. Loads of benefits and work life balance and you work alongside a good product. The people are also great, Dataminr do well hiring an inclusive workforce that has a good culture.

      Cons

      Leadership spent the entirety of 2022 telling us at town halls the company is in a great position to weather the storm (recession) and would not be making any large layoffs. 1 week into the new year and they cut the vast majority of the International Business from leadership all they way down to SDR's. For corporate organisations in any non volatile regions the product is deemed as a nice to have and not essential. Therefore it does not and will not sell at a high velocity to private sector businesses.

      Pros

      Smart people and great perks.

      Cons

      Terrible senior management and structure of the org. Lack of communication from the US leadership team and micromanagement from the mid managers. Product is only nice to have. Some departments are favoured based on what market/product you work on. Can be made suddenly redundant.

      Fun, challenging place to work

      Pros

      Fast-paced, challenging work environment full of incredibly smart people. Very team-oriented and collaborative, which makes the day-to-day experience both fun and interesting. The work has real-life, tangible impact. Dedication, innovation and hard work are rewarded. Free lunches, team outings, good perks.

      Cons

      Some occasional growing pains due to the nature of being a startup, but if you're up for being versatile and thinking on your feet, the changes usually end up on the positive side when all is said and done.
