Good money, poor career choice

Pros

Smart colleagues, cool product, good line management. The role has some ‘impact’, albeit very removed and intangible.

Cons

Leadership team makes decisions that are implemented last minute, completely changing workflows, responsibilities and departments. Promotion is very hard to come by. Pay rises virtually impossible unless you are prepared to walk. The actual work is incredibly repetitive, verging on mundane, depending on your expertise. You will be exposed to graphic content. Your hours are rigid and inflexible. You will learn very few skills applicable to jobs elsewhere. Project work is nearly always mundane and has little effect on the product. Projects can be cancelled or turned down at the drop of a hat.
