Pros
Not too many hoops to jump through. If you have the skill you should have no problem succeeding. Owner is friendly and personable, and truly cares about each employee, though it will take time and effort for that to show on your paycheck. Loyalty is rewarded in the long run. A strong sense of job security.
Cons
The personal relationship can get in the way of the owner terminating problem employees. A smaller initial salary will scare off many, and the stinginess doesn't necessarily stop there. May be too small and disorganized for some.
