Pros

Great pay, relative independence, simplicity. For a part time job, you cannot get much better than this. I was a student so the pay really helped with tuition.

Cons

Exposed to the weather, periodic micro-management, supervisors are constantly changing. Not too many bad things to say other than if you get a couple incompetent supervisors, it gets old really quick.

Regular route and retained knowledge of the area. Predictable hours. Enjoyed my regular stops and gained a relationship with customers.

Cons

No.complaints with the exception of me no longer working there.

Pros

Good technology. Still a small corporate feel compared to larger LTL carriers.

Cons

They have an "open door" policy, which really encourages employees to undermine their supervisors and throw them under the bus. If your employees have a grudge against you for writing them up due to lack of performance, they will play Dayton Freights system to destroy their supervisor. A STRONG PRESENCE OF GOOD OLE BOYS CLUB. It does not matter how hard your work, it does not matter what experience you bring to the table, it does not matter how effective of a leader you are, if you are not a friend or family of the top leadership you will never develop a career here. You will be a front line supervisor for about 5 years and then they will attempt to push you out. Trust me on this.
