Pros

Big focus on services. Management for the most part supportive.

Cons

Seems to be stuck in a rut. Used to be an incredible place to work, now, ehh... You have to know someone that knows someone right not to even get an interview for a different job within the company.

Pros

The focus on work-life balance ensures that employees stay motivated, great benefits (scholarships for a degree/MBA, external training for individual development), teambuilding/out-of-town activities are high class, senior management are very competent and have extensive experience working in their field, tremendous focus on individual development using top-of-the-line org management / human resource management systems, process-driven approach on improving effectiveness and efficiency in the organization (even leading up to black belt six sigma certifications), a very global environment provides opportunities to work with employees from another continent to share best practices.

Cons

Unstable market - bonuses and benefits - and ultimately, your job - are dependent on the company's performance and profits. This causes almost yearly redundancy exercises. Although Dell is kind enough to allow another company to acquire their sites/assets to avoid having to fire all employees, this does not quell the fear of losing your job when the computer market declines.

Pros

Dell has a very relaxed environment (no dress code) and off flexible hours depending on your position with the company.

Cons

Dell has shifted a lot of work overseas and continues to do so therefore job security is always a concern. The layoffs have also resulted in others being tasked with more responsiblities than before and dealing with folks overseas which creates issues with work/life balance.
