The audit practice for public company audits faces a serious problem. Keep audit fees the same, keep salaries the same, but perform audits at a higher than ever standard. The PCAOB is applying pressures that clients and investors don't care about, so we audit in a state of paranoia. The squeeze is performing these more detailed audits in conformity with regulator's standards, using the old revenue/salaries results in incredibly overworked staff. I've never worked so much my entire life. Worst of all, 88% of what you do each day, is documenting what you did the other 12% (actual auditing). Not necessarily blaming DT, but any other business would look at their employees and see that working beyond 70 hours a week, even during busy season, is a call to add more staff.
