Pros

Free laptop, alternative travel option to go see places instead of going home from the project site on weekends (your wife and children can wait another week)

Cons

While glassdoor.com does not classify permanent jobs with 40+ hours one must know that Deloitte Consulting expects you to spend at least 60 hours weekly on activities related to client service. This includes at least 45 hours of work billable to their clients, travel, overtimes, after hours meetings, etc. In addition to that Deloitte expects its people to be involved in ongoing firm activities ranging from women, Asian, Black, Hispanic, Gay, Lesbian and other events to mandatory ethics and compliance trainings. Each person is expected to earn at least 40 learning credits. Some of these credits require two or three hours of studying and passing the exam. If you did not make the expected billable hours goal and there is nothing on the horizon because of inability of leadership to maintain existing and build new accounts then be prepared for negative review regardless of your personal performance and quality of work. Once you go through several project cycles with heavy commute and utmost sacrifice in your personal life, you become eligible for being "counseled out" because you are burnt out. They shoot horses, yes they do!

Pros

1. Interesting work and have been able to work in a field I enjoy. 2. Some lattitude given for personal creativity, initiative and autonomy at remote sites.

Cons

1. Too much time taken up with internal requirements for training (most of which is bogus), 2. Inordinate emphasis placed on "eminence" and "firm contributions", by way of internal initiatives (e.g., writing white papers that most people have no time to read, contributions to a proliferation of "communities of practice" 3. Endless meetings and telecons, and threatening "compliance" communications.

Cons

Pays consistently lower than other firms with similar demands Occasional 'breaches' of culture, resulting in leaders who are out of tune with how Deloitte treats people
