Pros
- Exposure to diverse, intelligent people - Interesting work for the most part - Training, certifications, resources (if you have time to take advantage of them)
Cons
"Managing your career" is somewhat lip service; even if you want to fast track your career, promotions are often based on tenure. Obvious lack of equity in pay and promotions, even at the same experience/level. A lot of it depends on the project you are on. This can be pretty de-motivating. Much of your career progression depends on how diligent/supportive your counselor is. He/she can make or break it for you. Some managers are overbearing. This leads to great turnover; I have seen many people leave based on team morale. You cannot say "no" easily even if you are being asked to do an ungodly amount of work in addition to firm initiatives. It is difficult to get off a project, as many will consider this to be "burning bridges". Too much emphasis on firm initiatives; more so than any other Big4. New "goal setting" tools are excessive and redundant. Ride-sharing is fine, but jamming 4-5 people per car is unreasonable/unproductive.
