Pros

Deloitte is a great place to learn. It keeps you on your toes and gives you a lot of responsibility to take on at a fast rate. The people are also great. If you are not working well with a team member, HR is usually very responsive and will switch you to a new team. The learning curve is great. You never stop learning and you can run an audit effectively on your own after 2-3 years of experience. In addition, Deloitte gives you CPE course to keep you up to date on all Accounting issues and regulations. There is definately a family feel to the place - your team becomes your family and your partner becomes a mentee and role model.

Cons

Deloitte can take over your life - you will see your coworkers more often than your family and friends. This can be great if you work well with your coworkers. It can be a disaster if you dont. In addition, the hours are not good at all. Although the official "busy season" is only from January to March, I consider the entire year as one big busy season. Also, some clients have a summer year end so you can get stuck doing a year end audit from January to August. The work is not evenly distributed. Some employees can bill three times as much as a coworker and still get paid the same salary. The only difference might be a $2,000 bonus. Big whoops.

Pros

Vacation (20-28 days/year), benefits (has them all and good quality) medical, dental, 10-12 holidays/yr, 401K, pension, purchase discounts, life insurance, disability (short and long), high base salary (25% higher than most other consulting companies), annually paid bonus depending on individual and firm performance, standard travel is 3-4-5 (3nights away from home, 4 days, 5th day in office), very supportive o

Cons

very political, must promote self, must travel if required, must participate in firm events and community service to get ahead, very focused on eminence building and innovation, average 60 hrs/week, excellent client service will only get you an "average" year end rating.

Pros

For those fresh out of college but unsure of what to do, consulting is a great means for starting a career. Deloitte is not the best consulting firm out there, but it is definitely up there, and you will get the opportunity to work with high-profile clients. In addition, if you enjoy business travel, there are great perks in terms of gym subsidies, per diem travel reimbursment, and of course the flyer miles and hotel points.

Cons

If you choose to start you career at Deloitte, don't let them trick you into thinking that the Business Technology Analyst role is the "same thing" as the Business Analyst (Strategy & Operations) position. While S&O does occasionally interesting, high-profile projects, as a Business Technology Analyst, you will likely be marching from place-to-place doing the same repetitive software implementation work over and over again. The work is boring and there weren't many opportunities to learn solid skills. For some more honest feedback about Deloitte, check out www.greendotlife.com
