Pros

- Automatically holds some prestige on a resume - Have the ability to tap into their personal growth opportunities like Deloitte University and learning - You get to work with some really smart and good people - Lots of different experiences, but severely limited in Federal

Cons

For every positive, there is a catch and a condition - You are able to do trainings and go to things that are directly related to the project you are on or what service line you are aligned to, you're not allowed. It's also not uncommon to be waitlisted for a trip to DU - As with many places, for as many good people you meet, there are some really bad ones. What makes it bad is that there is no accountability and it's often people who have the more prestigious schools on their resume that get treated like kings/queens. People who are bad performers are not always identified if they are able to brown nose with enough people at the top. Similarly, top performers are rarely identified, much less recognized. Among the experience hire group (people who weren't recruited directly off a local campus), the turnover is really high for a lot of those reason - Another reason that people leave is they tend to grossly underpay people. For instance, someone a level below you could be making $10k more without a masters simple because they were a campus hire. Over time, they claim that it will "balance out" but as long as you're within the band for your level, that's all they care about. So you could be forever banished to well below the median if you don't come in reasonably. For example, the range for a Senior Consultant may be $80k - $120k. As long as you're making $80, they do not care at all. - Work life balance comes at a price. They expect you to be super involved in impactful firm activities, but it is beyond the regular 40 hours or more you work on a project. If you don't do it, you cannot expect to succeed or do well. However, they don't give you much credit for it because they don't make money off of you while you're doing it.

Pros

1. Name Recognition. 2. Great training programs. 3. DU is a beautiful campus.

Cons

1. Politics, politics, politics…beware at all times. 2. No work-life balance…no explanation needed. 3. If coming in as a Senior Consultant, ensure you have a project PRIOR to starting. Many Senior Consultants come hired onto the bench, which tanks your utilization, and you will be penalized. Senior Consultants are not a hot commodity in the Federal space. It is easier to hire an Analyst or Consultant on a project than a Senior Consultant. 4. Not easy to switch projects if not a match for your skill set. The manager will pretty much screw you on your review for this. 5. Not as “client focused” as promoted. More often than not, it is all about the sale of new business than focusing on the task already given. Clients suffer. 6. Manager -level and above will throw you under the bus to save their own hide. You must play the game well and be-friend the right people to ensure your end of the year review is not affected. 7. Your vacation is not your vacation. You have to pretty much beg to take off. Also, keep in mind; taking vacation tanks your utilization. 8. Not as easy to move within the company as promised. One has to actually PROVE themselves qualified in order to move somewhere else. This will require approvals all over the place.

Pros

The people are intelligent, and you will learn a great deal in a very short amount of time. A wild ride that is quite enjoyable. Large company with awesome resources. Excellent to have on your resume.

Cons

You have to always cover your own behind, because that is top priority for everyone else. If its you or them, lets just say its going to be you.
