My experience at Deloitte was painful to say the least. The promotion process lacked fairness and transparency. Despite consistently strong performance and delivering across multiple SAP engagements, I was repeatedly passed over without clear or honest justification. I experienced racial discrimination during my time at Deloitte especially by the dominant group of SAP employees at Deloitte. As a Black professional, I did not receive the same level of mentorship, sponsorship, or advocacy as others, which directly impacted my ability to advance. There were clear patterns of favoritism and bias within certain Indian leadership circles, where individuals supported and advanced those within their own nationality, while others myself included were consistently overlooked regardless of performance. My contributions were often minimized or dismissed. I led testing efforts, worked deeply in SAP FICO, and resolved complex issues requiring both technical and accounting expertise, yet this was not recognized when it mattered most. Feedback used to block my promotion was at times inaccurate and did not reflect the actual work I was doing. In some cases, I experienced unprofessional and undermining behavior in meetings that felt targeted and difficult to ignore. Overall, the environment made it clear that performance alone was not enough to succeed, and that bias played a role in limiting opportunities—ultimately leading to my decision to leave.
