The company has changed since being taken over by New Mountain Capital. It was once a company that took out a full page Wall Street Journal Ad(june 03) describing how they were 'different' from the other companies (Oracle, Peoplesoft, Jd Edwards) and how they treated their customers and employees.
Now most of the senior management has come from the above three and other employees who had really made the name for the company are being replaced with cost cutting measures by exporting their jobs to third world countries (Philippine and India offices) .
As for the A&E customers, most have decided to leave-- The others sectors are so imbedded into the good o'll u.s of a goverment contracting (pork, mongering, etc,) , it would behoove them to leave since Deltek software is the only game in town in that respect.
