      Co-op Experience

      Pros

      Great company! Great people! Given me a lot of experience and really opened my eyes to what post college work will be like. I hear about others with co-op jobs who are not really doing too much real work while I am usually really busy with project work. The atmosphere is fun but you are expected to always do your best and get your work done. I especially enjoyed getting to travel to job-sites, all expenses paid for, and get to see a lot of really neat plants. Also, company parties are great fun. Lots of perks!

      Cons

      As a co-op you are expected to do all the little jobs around the office, and you must do them. They can at times be exhausting and you will feel like you are not appreciated.

      Pros

      For the most part the culture of the company is a "family", sometimes dysfunctional, but, for a company of the size, it still has something of a family feel. I suppose it can be difficult for newbies, particularly those without previous experience, to find their place in the family. In-laws? Long-lost cousins?

      Cons

      Did I mention dysfunctional? There is somewhat of a lack of structure and leadership. This isn't a complete negative, though. People are expected to manage themselves and behave as adults without having to be micromanaged. As the company grows larger, this has become more of a problem that needs to be addressed.

      Had no interest in employee development

      Pros

      Interesting field of work being in food processing plants around the country, overall very intriguing work but is overshadowed by poor management that protect knowledge as if engineering is some sort of witchcraft. Unwilling to teach and promote.

      Cons

      50 hours a week for a year and got less than 5 dollars an hour for the 10+ hours of over time each week what they call a (performance bonus). When fired they insulted me by saying that a "veteran and a collage graduate should be more." More of what you'll have to ask them.
