Pros

Strong Work–Life Balance - Working in the administrative office offers a healthy balance between professional responsibilities and personal time. Supportive Leadership - Employees benefit from supervisors who provide guidance, encouragement, and trust. Independence and Autonomy - Staff members are empowered to manage their work with minimal micromanagement, fostering confidence and productivity. Collaborative Team Environment - Co‑workers are consistently willing to assist one another, creating a supportive and team‑oriented atmosphere. Neurodiversity ERG -The newly established Neurodiversity Employee Resource Group offers mentorship opportunities and helps staff build meaningful professional connections within the agency. Community, Well‑Being, and Belonging Committee - This dedicated committee meets monthly to explore ways to support and give back to Direct Care Staff, strengthening workplace culture and engagement. Learning Opportunities -Direct Support Staff have access to numerous educational resources and training options to support professional growth.

Cons

Lack of Clear Accountability - While departments generally collaborate toward shared goals, it can sometimes feel as though responsibility is shifted between teams, which may lead to unclear outcomes and difficulty resolving issues. Staffing Shortages and Burnout Concerns - During home visits, some staff have expressed feeling overwhelmed due to ongoing staffing shortages. While not universal, several Direct Support Professionals have reported experiencing burnout as a result of increased workload demands. Unrealistic Expectations for Direct Support Staff: Through conversations, some staff have expressed that upper management may not fully understand the realities of day‑to‑day work within the homes. As a result, expectations can sometimes feel unrealistic or misaligned with the actual challenges DSPs face. Limited Opportunities for Advancement: There are not many career growth or promotion within the organization.
