Advancing to a management position feels nearly impossible unless you're close personal close friends with the foremen and superintendents. It's astonishing that such a large organization still allows “friends to promote friends”over time with the company, knowledge, work ethic, and experience when it comes to promotions. Meanwhile, HR turns a blind eye to the situation, which undermines any claims of being an "Equal Opportunity" employer. Inexperienced and unqualified individuals often get promoted and get to avoid moving up through the ranks. Some managers are remarkably close-minded and arrogant, refusing to admit their mistakes even when proven wrong. Managers have an excessive amount of influence, making it easy for them to micromanage field employees as they see fit. As a result, the company’s culture varies significantly between different areas.
