Great colleagues but management could do better

Pros

Many great colleagues. Some nice benefits, such as dentist costs paid for a certain amount per year etc. In my unit, processes work fine.

Cons

It seems to me that the whole company does not have a clear vision, but the different units work as silos, with different cultures. Middle management is too busy, at least in my unit. Not enough time to really engage with employees. Career opportunities limited for a non-techie person if not in Helsinki area. Don't have a "same job same salary" principle, but rather everyone gets what their bosses think they deserve, and not measured for example with same metrics.

Pros

- Since being a consulting company, various different projects and positions are available - Secure 9 to 5 workplace - Efforts being made to stand out from bigger and less agile similar companies such as Tieto and CGI - Diacor services - Hires new graduates

Cons

- Salary not the most competetive, raises are not given easily or frequently - A bit bureaucratic in some things - Applied KIKY stupidity with 6 min longer workdays - Management and business people make some irresponsible decisions at times while searching only short-term benefits - I'd prefer a location closer to the center of Helsinki

If you want to work on Qt, do it for fun...not here!

Pros

Excellent 401k matching (if you stick around long enough for it to vest) Employer-paid benefits Work with a highly regarded application framework (Qt)

Cons

Crappy work-life balance benefits, very uneven (EU gets 5 weeks of time off, USA gets 2 weeks) Not a team-oriented environment. USA (sales) vs EU (engineering) Sucky IT policies (bordering on paranoid) Cheap on salary. Big split in corporate culture: open vs closed source. Business mission flawed. Work office was often empty, very little team cohesion, lots of passive-aggressive behavior by management and colleagues. Outsourced HR and IT
