Lack of transparency and bonus structure even when milestones and goals are met

Middle management took their job way too seriously, there was a lot of pressure to work more and more hours with excessive and constant waste of time and resources. They were overly detailed focus without being able to see the bigger picture. It caused a major mental health breakdown and made me never want to work in that field again. It was the worst way to spend living time. If I had to take a sick day I would get harassed by my manager with a phone call. There was no career development, The work was tirelessly tedious with zero interest in taking on suggestions to make things more efficient. It was run totally cowboy style. No bonuses, the yearly reviews were used to keep confidence levels down. It was horrible.
