Pros

Most of the managers in IT are great, even most of the directors. The people in IT often feel like family, in a good way. Working from home is allowed for emergencies such as repairs or sick children.

Cons

Upper management, including the people whose last name is on the building, implement policies without regard for how it could effect their employees. If they decide to do something, nothing will change their mind. There is a horrible lack of communication from upper management. Those new policies mentioned above rarely even get announced in an email, but are told to lower management to then tell their teams. Employee retention rate has been steadily declining. This means that by the time most people are learning the systems they are working on, they leave and someone new has to be trained. Insurance is a joke. Working from home is not allowed unless for an emergency such as repairs or sick children. Two weeks of vacation until after ten years. Limited vacation rollover. Limited holidays.
