Pros

Great people to work with and easy to be around in social settings. Music, Art, Movies and pop-culture is part of the company business as well as employee background. Fun, casual environment and an office party each year that has employees playing in bands at a club in town. Talented workforce, accessible management, great HR department, and free coffee and bagels.

Cons

Optical discs are becoming obsolete and the industry is shrinking as a whole. DM does a good job keeping afloat, however not as much growth potential as there was in the past.

Pros

Company culture is fairly tight knit, lots of cross talk with middle management. Office environment is casual. Benefits and time off are half decent after working here for a few years

Cons

The industry is floundering as a whole, causing a shift in focus from high quality work to low priced mid-quality work. The company is generally understaffed, and pay is below market. Very little upward mobility.

Disc Makers Response

Yes, a sizeable chunk of our revenues do indeed come from a mature product (optical discs), but we are by NO means at the tail end of our life as a company. I'm very proud that the company has been around for 70 years, and we have migrated through all the audio formats, from 78s to LPs to cassettes, CDs, downloads, and now streaming. Not only that, we are diversified into book self-publishing with our BookBaby brand, and serve musicians and filmmakers in other functions, including royalty collection and YouTube monetization with our sister company CD Baby. So... while the disc industry is declining, this company continues to be very healthy, and offers exciting opportunities for our team members. Thanks for the review. Tony van Veen - CEO
