Pros

Great benefits Really nice ICs who do great work

Cons

- Design leadership is backbitey and toxic - they trash talk other teams and specific ICs regularly. - there’s no culture of feedback except negative feedback and most of it is unfounded or misguided - constant focus on “juice” and superficial vanity projects and metrics sucked the life out of the app and added a lot of cruft. - senior directors gaslight designers form other teams into quitting or feeling like they should quit. - Directors will align on you to have a bad review and then won’t allow you to transfer teams because your review was bad.

Pros

Everyone is very smart and kind. You'll be able to find challenging work to take on.

Cons

The culture is very inclusive, and everyone is quirky in a way. For people who don't have very unique interests or hobbies, you might feel out of place.

Pros

Companies are not your friends, but Discord has done ok by us (with the exception of the hiring boom of the pandemic + layoffs early 2024). I appreciate the ability to work remotely, and the flexibility and trust I am given to do my job well. Discord also has pretty high internal transparency, including the good and the bad -- sometimes it can look like leadership is still figuring stuff out, but I'd rather know where we stand! And right now we are on a clear path business-wise and leadership is leading with confidence. Culture-wise, I love that my coworkers all care so much about the product we're building, and I can engage with them directly on any problems that arise. Even working remotely, everyone feels like a human.

Cons

Using Discord at work instead of email + slack makes internal communication a bit messy. It's hard to find information sometimes.
