Pros

Creative Internal Workers Brands carry a lot of weight in the marketplace and on your resume Great Location Metro Accessible Downtown Silver Spring Doctor On-site

Cons

- Senior Management Disconnected with Staff - Working hard will only find you career stuck as you can't promote the few that are doing the work - Oral support of management above you appears to be the fast track to success - Leaving the company and returning within 1 to 2 years can gain you 2+ management/senior levels plus a noticeable pay increase - Layoffs usually consist of only people producing actual work results. Layoffs under the Director level (no management) are usually the hardest hit.

Pros

Brand recognition is top here. Most people in the US and many around the world know the name and shows.

Cons

Since the new CEO arrived, the company has been a miserable place to work. Heads of departments and networks have come and go with no attention to the long term. While senior management makes tons of $$$, lower level employees of many years get the short end of the stick. As Zaslav (a former NBC employee) gets millions by redeeming his options, the company pursues many careless layoffs.

Pros

Convenient location--close to Metro, buses, and shopping district on-site childcare People are impressed when you tell them where you work Great co-workers Diverse staff Green initiatives (recycling, low-flow toilets) Nice building On-site health and wellness Interesting people

Cons

The name of the corporation is paradoxical. There is no innovation or discovery, and there definitely is not much communication going on. BLOODLETTING; your job or division may not exist tomorrow. The fear is palpable. Not sure about the work-life balance they tout. I see a lot of people putting in long hours, probably to save themselves in the event of "reorganization". Active recruitment of kids out of college over seasoned professionals or advanced degree-holders.
