Pros

- Nice people at lower levels - To a degree, there's understanding that the codebase is complex and things can take time - Pay is a little above average - The occasional get-togethers are refreshing

Cons

- A brownfield project with no appetite to modernise, it's all about new features and numbers for next quarter - Your commit numbers will be counted - The company is not very large, but the approach to staff management in engineering definitely reminded me of large public company (think stack ranking) - Attrition in engineering was the highest I've seen in my entire career

Pros

The people at the company are all very nice and dependable. There is a good work life balance and there aren’t any problems with booking leave in advance.

Cons

The careers opportunities look limited because as a remote worker your contributions as significantly less visible than those in office.
