Pros

- Well developed asynchronous culture and management - Great company culture - Great salary, bonus and perks - Openness to diversity and inclusion (still under development)

Cons

- Whilst there is openness to purpose changes to practices or policies, sometimes it's hard to really make changes to practices and policies - Understaffed teams make the work routine overwhelming - Huge legacy systems developed with no good software engineering practices make it really hard to maintain and improve them - No prioritization to address historical technical debts (related to item 2 above)

Pros

- The incredible part: I haven't encountered one single person who is hard to work with. I have nothing but the best of words for my 70+ colleagues. - Interesting challenges. We have a system of proposing what we want to work on and embarking on them, and one month per year we can work on projects of our own choice. As long as you can make people see the impact of something that you want to work on, you have relative freedom to choose your own work. - Caring culture. Our culture is rather Scandinavian, and you can tell that the company really cares about your wellbeing. During the ongoing Convid pandemic, both Amir and department heads made a point to stress on placing life and family above work and job. - Transparency. Everything is discussed openly, and everything is up for discussion. People are great at giving and taking feedback. - Salary adjustment + 2 benefit payouts per year. Salary is automatically adjusted every year, so no need to wrestle your way into a raise. Benefit is calculated based on formula as well. In fact, I don't think we do negotiations with offers either. IMO this is best for both sides, as all cards are on the table, take or leave, fair and square. - Benefits. Company retreat, team retreat, 40 days PTO, parental leave, etc.

Cons

- Salary. Salary is good, but its calculation takes into account the COL of our location. So, not comparable to silicon valleys'. For a developer this can be a downside as more and more companies over there are offering remote positions, especially in recent years, generating competition. - Company structure. Since we're remote from all around the world, even full-time employees are on "permanent contracts", which means tax can be a pain to do. - Technical debt. The company started a while ago, so some parts of the code can be ancient. Though I can see that we're making good steady effort to address them, so not particularly worried on this regard. - Socializing. Occasionally I get sad that I don't get to see my incredible colleagues as much as I'd like. They could be such great real life friends.

Pros

Every day there's a new challenge to work on that keeps me motivated, it allows me to learn new stuff, and how to produce a better work than the one from the previous day. Working at Doist allows me to meet people from all over the world and learn about new cultures. It's truly amazing to know that you'll have such a fantastic group of people, the Doist Family, always by your side on your ups and downs.

Cons

It's not really a con, but working remotely can be a challenge some times. From the outside people think that it's fantastic; you work from home, with your own schedule, etc. And yes, it's truly fantastic. But it's not that easy. It's easy to overwork from time to time, to not know when to stop working. Because of the freedom, it can also be difficult to focus some times. This said, I think that with time and self-discipline you can end up having a great remote work experience. And if at some point you need help, ask it to your team mates.
