Pros

- 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off - Lots of smart people in research and engineering - Easy commute if you live in the city - Good pay and benefits

Cons

- Not very strong leadership or clear sense of direction - Too dependent on outside consultants and agencies - A new org structure every six months - Marketing is a mess

If you aren't a sound engineer, run away...

Pros

If you are a sound engineer, this is a cool company to work for. Lots of really smart engineers, nice offices, mostly reasonable hours. Engineers are treated with respect and their contributions are greatly valued.

Cons

If you work outside of engineering, your work and contributions are considered inconsequential. Although Dolby is still relatively small, there is an ivory tower attitude on the part of management and there is little or no tolerance for hearing anything other than what they want to hear.

Pros

good people, great technology and excellent benefits

Cons

Looks great from outside. Highly politically charged management. Reminds me of the movie "The Firm". Enough said. The company just cannot compete in the market for non-mandated technologies.
