Pros

working with the public isn't to bad, depending on where your store is located.

Cons

they work you to death, lucky to get a break of any kind, the District Managers all suck and i feel are born from pods, the company does not care about ANY of its employees at all, they expect more than the 2 people on duty can do, there is only 2 people on duty at any one time (one manager and one cashire), their pay rate sucks and trying to get a raise is almost impossible,

Pros

Flexibility, hard workers get noticed and are often appreciated. Great place for being new to retail business. Experience cultivating and taking constructive direction to become more proficient is the key to excell.

Cons

Not enough budget hours to complete tasks needed to be done, shrink management is difficult if you can only afford two people and both are stuck on registers, there needs to be a floor rover especially when its high traffic times, more people need to be scheduled during truck days to complete with in the 3 day time frame, budget goes based on sales and not productivity needs, this needs working on, the pay is understandable for someone starting out in retail, but when youve had management and store management experience for 10+ years and you startat 8.75 it really speak down to a person and doesnt encourage them to bring that experience with them to better the stores and company as a whole. This isn't complaining this is sharing what is stated in store by staff members and why morale is down and a high turnover rate occurs. Give associates reasons to look forward to working for DG, excellent performance and hard working associates and managers should be rewarded for being the face of the company and directly interactive with DG's customers.
