Pros
* You get to work with a large variety of people,
Cons
* There is some unspoken rule at this company that, despite relevant experience, management won’t promote you past this pay grade until you have 7 years experience. Even if you have a Bachelors and someone else has an Associates. Doesn’t matter if it’s energy related, only counts if it’s Dominion experience. It’s called Wage Compression. There was a reason this company’s employees striked in 1991. Why are people with Associates degrees and doing little to no high quality work making more than people who went to a 4 year university? * We had to learn AUD, EWAM, multiple new systems/manuals, with a 2:1 workload to worker ratio, while dealing with a toxic work environment where you are expected to do it yourself without any help. If you ask for help, upper management gets involved and starts scrutinizing everything you do. When I said I was burnt out my supervisor suggested, “You need to take pride in your work.” I take pride in my work but any other company would pay us 50% more for what we have to do. * Everyone is leaving. Workloads are 2x the amount for seasoned professionals while the ones who act incompetent receive paltry workloads comparatively and are getting paid the exact same. Linemen are essentially a thing of the past and it’s all contractors at this point. Patrol is just lip service to the public as this crisis continues.
