Laid back work environment but lacking in proper facilities maintenance

Schedule was fairly flexible. Manager was good. Facility was beautiful with a great view of the river and downtown. Free food.

Cons

Cooperate head of maintenance would always push us to do bare minimum "quick fixes" rather than doing it right the first time. Too much time is then spent re-doing those quick fixes over and over again. Building had not been properly maintained for many years, my boss started the job in a giant hole of incomplete and improper work. Management did not understand the time and money required to properly maintain a building this size.

Hotel is part of a shopping center, the Pruneyard Plaza, so plenty of walking distance dining, shopping and entertainment options.

Cons

There are serious concerns regarding the treatment of belittling comments or actions towards team members, offensive conduct including dismissive behavior that undermines your contributions to the hotel, to sometimes being publicly criticized in a manner that's unconstructive and deeply demoralizing, to instances of gatekeeping, unequal opportunities, and a lack of support for career advancement. Some of my colleagues were supportive and hardworking, and I valued the opportunity to collaborate with them but there's leadership who's bad behavior is tolerated instead of being dealt with. Most employees would rather wait until they're ready to quit to share their grievances. The DoubleTree by Hilton Campbell - Pruneyard Plaza culture feels toxic, with a lack of trust between management and staff. Hopefully the company will address these issues soon.
