Pros

Most of the people you work with are passionate and REALLY good at what they do

Cons

With that being said, this job runs you ragged. You are expected to work long hours severely understaffed which then requires you to take on more responsibility than you will ever be paid for. This is a heavy job, you are on the front line when families are making a tough choice - this is not for the faint of heart. If there are problems within your team (ie a coworker that is prohibiting you and other coworkers from providing the services that DoveLewis is known for), your concerns will be disregarded, you will be targeted, and still feel as though you haven't done enough for the people you are serving. No matter how much work, time, effort, and love you put into this position, it will spit you out and DoveLewis will not care.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We recognize the rapidly rising cost of living in the Portland metropolitan area is extraordinarily difficult. We continually look for ways to increase pay for our teams, like quarterly bonuses and weekend differentials, while also being fiscally responsible. We are always open to more creative compensation solutions if you have any to share. That aside, we are chiefly concerned that you felt targeted after giving feedback about your coworker. Pros

great coworkers, loved my supervisor, good medical/dental/vision benefits, great exposure to interesting veterinarian cases (assisting surgery was cool)

Cons

the pay sucks! turn over is high, this is hard work and long hours, support teams are not compensated enough for what they do

I’m so glad you enjoyed your co-workers and supervisor. Culture is important to Dove and the Leadership Team and we take our culture seriously. We do appreciate your feedback and we are continuing to work as a management team to do a better job celebrating successes. We know the work of a Doctor and Tech assistant is very hard and there are long days that are physically and emotionally demanding. Every staff member is sincerely appreciated for all they do. The TA/DA makes such an impact to our patients and clients and we know we could not run the hospital without you. Dove’s philosophy is to be competitive with wages in the industry and in our area. We also know that this position is usually a stepping stone for employees who are moving towards Tech or Veterinary school so we often don’t have them for long. We appreciate your feedback and we will use it to continue to try to improve.

Pros

This place truly cares and is the best place to grow as a person. If you were like me and got excited to apply for a position but saw these awful reviews, take a hard look at my review. Everyone is willing to help no matter how busy they are. Every day is a fantastic opportunity to learn something new and no one is stopping you besides yourself. Bear in mind, I worked in the business section, so my opinion of how things were moving on the hospital floor are limited. But I will truly miss working in this hospital. The pay was great too and my boss/co-workers all did their best to help me succeed. I do not work here anymore because of my own shortcomings and everyone in this company did their best to help me succeed.

Cons

There are some interesting risks being taken but that is part of the equation for true growth. Employee meetings were a waste of time in my opinion and there is an odd vibe sometimes around lunches. However, I never had many cons because if I ever thought something was wrong I would go tell someone about it until I could fix it.
