Pros
Flexible PTO you can actually use.
Cons
For a 'remote first' company, they often don't bother to adjust timing for folks outside of EST timezone meaning very early or very late meetings for folks outside of that zone. You get dragged to Baltimore (eww) twice a year for a WEEK and they don't pay for child or pet care while you're forced to be there. The pay is absymally low, not a fair market range for your location (even though they claim they are following market trends), no bonus, no defined structure for raises or promotions (targets keep moving and you never seem to meet them). Instead of actual money, you are given lots of useless RSU options and a ridiculous amount of swag/clothing. I'd prefer actual money to a sweatshirt and a hotel meal banquet. The tech stack is a tangled mess of tech debt and poorly implemented code, this company has no clue what it takes to run on a cloud provider. AI slop is rampant, even from sr engineers who know better, there's no real PR reviewing of it either, there are more code repos than actual people in the company, lots of duplication of tools and tech stacks, as decisions to re-invent the wheel here are commonplace. Hot-fixing and fire-fighting are a constant part of the culture and you are expected to work weekends or overtime to 'get things done quickly' even for unplanned injections of work, as product seems to change their vision every month. A ton of ex-military, which means the day to day language is often violent in nature, lots of 'blast-radiuses' and 'fights' and 'foot guns' and other such nonsense which subconsciously creates a hostile work environment.
