Pros

I worked as a full time employee at Dreamworks Animation for over 8 years. It was an amazing opportunity to work there for so many years, working on movies, enjoying a nice laid back atmosphere, a beautiful campus and great free food! I really believed that I would want to stay for even longer.

Cons

The problem I faced was after you finally learn all of the pipeline, and learn all of the aspects of your job description, and have been there for many years, there is no opportunities to grow (or very few opportunities depending on the department). Even if you have great reviews, and have worked very hard on key components of a productions, there is no direct path to reach even greater opportunities so you can keep growing and being challenged in your career. Because of lack of transparency in the system, even the few opportunities that are given, don't have a clear way how they were achieved. For instance: you can't easily see internal job postings for new positions in your department if there are any, and there is no established path to promotions or career advancement opportunities based on merit or training. You work hard and hope that this takes you somewhere further where you can be challenged, but often times people end up being pigeon holed in the same exact job for years and are kept at the same level. There is very little rotations of leadership, so unfortunately the leadership often also feels outdated in their skills and have a hard time adapting to change and embracing progress . This is unfortunate that leadership doesn't recognize the need to give people opportunities to grow, since all the other aspects make it a great place to work, where people commit themselves 100 percent to doing a great job because they love and believe in the company!

Pros

The people and the sense of family.

Cons

They don't pay very well and the whole butts in seats mentality needs to change.
