Great perks, sketchy review process

Pros

-Paradise work environment, free food, ping-pong/foosball tables, etc. -Best creative talent in the world -Amazing release parties -Lots of freedom to try new technology as long as it works -CEO is incredibly transparent and gives daily email updates to the entire company

Cons

-Reviews are an afterthought, even at the highest levels. Even within teams, some get reviews while others don't. And when they do, they're rushed and based solely on the opinion of your manager. No examples even needed to back things up. Too bad it's not just a piece of paper either-- your bonus is largely based on it. -For R&D, low pay compared to other tech companies. Raises are typically cost-of-living increases, around 2-3%. -The Great Production/Technology Divide is far and wide. Difficult to bridge that gap and meet people outside your clique. -Lots of $$$ spent on flying Voice Talent around the world and catering to VIPs. Would like to see that invested in employees not just VIPs.

Pros

*Nice people...who stab you in the back after they pretend to be your friend *Great benefits *Nice perks such as screenings, art books, DVDs, art lessons *Beautiful campus *Yes, free meals

Cons

*You're only as good as your current boss says you are, no matter how excellent previous performance is, and a bad supervisor (which is endemic there) can break your career and fire you without any warning *Supervisors have dismal training in actual people skills; coordinators get promoted to supervisor if they have the technical saavy, which has *nothing* to do with whether they can manage PEOPLE *Don't ever, EVER trust H.R. -- they're there to protect the company. Period. *Artists rule; production people are expendable *You have to cater to the artists every whim, even if they're lazy and have low productivity *Narcissistic supervisors, editors, and executives make the work miserable no matter how 'pretty' the campus -- everyone's out for their careers and stomp over whoever they need to *Very clique-oriented. Prepare to re-live high school -- the men act are worse than sixth grade girls. *No, I wasn't fired. I left after I saw how people were treated and didn't want to stand in line to be another victim.
