Pros

- Diversity: DriveTime stands out as the most diverse company I've ever worked for, surpassing several Fortune 500 companies. The representation of people of color in higher management positions, including one of the founders, is unparalleled. - Work-Life Balance: DriveTime offers exceptional working hours within the auto industry, closing every Sunday, major holidays, and even earlier on Halloween. This commitment to work-life balance is commendable. - Employee-friendly Schedule: The company's work schedule, with Sundays off for all employees and staggered shifts, allows for a good work-life balance. General Managers and Assistant General Managers also have structured days off. - Health Benefits: While health benefits are average, the dental coverage is excellent, including four free cleanings per year. - Inclusive Culture: DriveTime's inclusive culture allows employees from low-income backgrounds to be themselves without having to 'code switch,' fostering a comfortable working environment. - Non-Corporate Feel: Despite being a billion-dollar company, DriveTime maintains a friendly, non-corporate atmosphere at its stores, resembling a small, family-run business. - Casual Dress Code: The company allows employees to wear jeans, sneakers, and shorts daily, providing a comfortable and varied wardrobe with branded apparel options. - Competitive Compensation: The compensation for employees, including sales professionals, is decent, with base salaries and monthly bonuses for meeting sales goals.

Cons

- Staff Reductions: DriveTime's decision to reduce support staff and operational roles created an increased workload for existing employees, especially after the pandemic. - Overloaded Responsibilities: Customer Experience Guides (CEGs) are burdened with numerous tasks, from calling leads to post-sale paperwork, cleaning cars, and managing the inventory, leading to burnout and reduced efficiency. - Management Overload: General Managers (GMs) and Assistant General Managers (AGMs) end up performing tasks meant for support staff and CEGs, impacting their ability to focus on managerial responsibilities. - Long Hours: To cope with operational tasks, GMs and AGMs are expected to work longer hours, resulting in a demanding workweek.

Thank you for sharing your experience. At DriveTime, we are proud supporters of hiring from within so we do push our employees to always continue learning - we're glad to hear that was consistent with your experience. Part of our core values is treated each and every person with the same level of respect and we are sorry to hear you did not experience that. We do not tolerate any sort of favoritism, especially from management, and encourage current employees to take up those sort of issues with our talent support team. We appreciate your feedback and wish you success in your next role.
