Not a bad part time gig

Pros

You make pretty good tips there. The training went well for me and I learned a lot from it. Working there certainly helped me improve my blowouts. I don't think it is the best full time gig, unless you try to move up the ladder past a stylist. Best for some extra spending money.

Cons

You don't get to pick your schedule usually, at least I had trouble getting the schedule I wanted right away. Can be very mismanaged at times. Your experience is very dependent on location.

DON’T DO IT!

Pros

Product discount, free blowouts, fun coworkers and decent clients.

Cons

Literally everything else. Very poor management. You will be overworked and underpaid. No question about it. Your training won’t go well because the owner demoted the original educator once she had her baby! And she did so from Russia. She was the perfect educator and the owner screwed it all up. When Covid hit, everything started falling apart. Need a day off? Too bad. Get it covered. That’s when if you request off over a month in advance. If you turn down the extra hours they need you, you’ll get your hours cut. Management is a bully. There’s a reason everyone is quitting. In fact, about 7 of us quit or put in notice on the same day because it’s so bad. The core values are the biggest load of bull. They say, “we are family” but it couldn’t be further from the truth. Family doesn’t treat each other that way. If you’re just starting out a career as a hair stylist, do not work for Drybar St. Louis. It will RUIN your perception of the cosmo world.
