Company went to the trash after Ali Webb sold it
Pros
Flexible scheduling, 50% discount, chance to learn good blowout skills
Cons
Ever since Ali sold the company it’s turned to Garbage. Management doesn’t communicate to employees, they promise incentives like Starbucks gift cards for 5 star reviews but then don’t give them and never mention the incentive program again. Clients can be so rude to front desk & stylists and management will never be on the employees side. You’re required to work 2 weekend days but they pick and choose who they want to enforce that rule with. Definitely a place of favoritism, if you’re not a favorite of the bosses then you have no chance of moving up in the company. Stylists are completely underpaid, company wants stylists to rely on tips. They want numbers met on products sales yet the shops never have any products to sell, even the stylist trays are bare. I’ve personally been belittled and yelled at by management & have faced retaliation from managements. Stylists get completely overworked on busy days, late lunches and no 10 minute breaks. You even get rushed if you take too long drinking water and your clients been waiting for more than 2 minutes. Many drybar employees have to pay for parking EVERYDAY and don’t get reimbursed for it. The shop I came from has been so desperate for shampoo once that they watered down the little bit that was left to use for the days clients. The shop I came from also allowed a homeless man to come get his hair blown out & would not properly dispose or clean materials after use. Clients can be rude af and make you cry but if you refuse them service you get a write up. It’s a very sad and depressing environment to work in. I’d recommend if you’re fresh out of cosmo school or if you want to learn blowdrying techniques but I do not recommend if you’re trying to grow as a stylist or person, that place is not worth the stress!
